Not to long ago we visited Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon. The whirlwind formally known as Saigon is a hot, noisy, dynamic city that rarely sleeps, with a complex history and plenty of culture to soak up. Combine this with the laughably good-value prices of everything from lodgings to lunch, and there’s never been a better time to explore this south Vietnamese gem. Here are 10 ways to make the most of a visit.

Where to Stay?

We stayed at Paragon Saigon Hotel. I must say the service offered here was tip-top.

Where to Eat?

Hum

If you're looking for good vegetarian Vietnamese food, 'Hum' is the place.

They have never failed to impress me.

Ganes

Another restaurant we visited was 'Ganes'. They serve such great Indian Food.

Personally, I believe that the Cheese Naan here is to die for.

It's one of the best Cheese Naan I've had, EVER.

The quality of the food here is tip-top and you'd never regret it.

You'll definitely have to check this place out the next time you're in Vietnam!

You should definitely consider visiting two of these restaurants on your next visit to Vietnam.

Where to Shop?

Ben Thanh Market

Ben Thanh Market is fun at any time of day and well into the night. Ho Chi Minh City’s central market and a must-see when visiting Vietnam’s largest and most boisterous city, early mornings see locals shopping for fresh produce before fashion stalls take centre stage throughout the day, as well as rows of coffee traders, selling a dizzying array of beans. Come nightfall, a night market sets up alongside the main hall, selling clothing, apparel and souvenirs until 24:00, along with interesting pop-up street food stalls.

Vincom Center

The luxurious Vincom Center is Ho Chi Minh City’s largest shopping mall with over 250 shops spread out over two separate buildings. Vincom Center A is a charming, low rise colonial building housing many flagship stores for international fashion houses such as Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss and Hermes. Vincom Center B occupies the first four floors of a modern glass skyscraper just across the street from the original premises. Here you will find more high street brands, sporting apparel and homeware.

Oh my! Find me shopping at the market! I'm such a fun of visiting local markets and thrift stores to carry some souvenirs home.
